In the contemporary world, a clear divide separates what is conceived as culture, where the concepts of “highbrow” and “lowbrow” constantly influence each other. These definitions of culture are associated with manifestations, styles, representations, languages, and even specific materials. Accordingly, this scenario incorporates elements traditionally associated with the “highbrow,” such as ornaments and embroidery, and combines them with representations and symbols of the ordinary,understood as what is common, graceless, or even what is rude and grotesque.

The word “Gonorrea” is the term for a sexually transmitted disease and a curse word, that originated in Antioquia, a Colombian region commonly associated with reggaeton and narco culture. With the spread and popularization of this music genre and the craze for narco esthetics, the word became widely used by the Colombian society at large.
