TRAPITOS AL SOL

2020-2023

CROSS STITCH EMBROIDERY ON COTTON FABRIC

29.2cm*25cm/37cm*30.4cm/ 29.7cm*28.4cm

The starting point of this exploration is the acquisition of family archive material from a commercial setting, where the physical representation of a memory or event transforms into an object with transactional value. Within this context, the essence of photography loses its ritualistic significance, shedding the delicate and fragile characteristics inherent in the domestic context where the image was originally captured. Thus, this exercise seeks to revive certain fundamental elements of domesticity by translating the information contained within these photographs into a traditionally domestic language, like embroidery.

This translation process results in a blurred and incomplete image, devoid of definition, broadening the possibilities for interpretation.
The title “Trapitos al sol” is a colloquial expression commonly used for describing when someone is venting out someone else’s private business.
